On my first railfan trip in 2016, this was the last stop for my neighbor and I for the day. Just outside of Harrisburg, PA, we just witnessed the majestic Norfolk Southern “Veteran” locomotive pull through this grade crossing. The “Veteran” locomotive is a regularly used diesel locomotive used in NS’s fleet and has a unique paint scheme that honors the veterans and current armed service members of America. As we stood there, this man on his motorcycle pulled up to the crossing and looked down the line. With the “Veteran” at the front and miles of train cars behind him, who knows where he was pulling to.
